Living Expenses and other Costs

The cost of living in Berlin is lower than in most major German cities. You can eat out inexpensively; public transport is affordable and tickets to cultural events and entertainment are affordable. In other words, you can do a lot on a relatively low budget!

Using the Berlin public transport network is a quick and reliable way to get around.

A monthly ticket for bus, urban rail and underground costs: 70-86 €

Travel times to/from Eurocentres

  • Alexanderplatz: 15 minutes
  • Kurfürstendamm: 15 minutes
  • Hauptbahnhof (central railway station): 15 minutes
  • Tegel Airport: 45 minutes

At the weekend most underground (U-Bahn) and urban rail (S-Bahn) services run around the clock. However, even during the week public transport will take you to and from almost any destination in the city until late at night.
